What PTE Academic score aligns with IELTS 7.0?
Pearson's July 2025 concordance places the IELTS 7.0 band at a minimum PTE Academic score of 63. The tests measure different things, so use this comparison for planning and check your institution's specific requirements.
Which test is easier: PTE or IELTS?
Neither is easier for everyone. PTE Academic is delivered by computer and usually returns results within 48 hours; Pearson says some responses are reviewed by human experts before the automated score is finalised. IELTS has a human speaking examiner.
Do universities accept both?
Most universities in Australia, the UK, Canada, and New Zealand accept both, but the minimum score they require is publicly listed on their admissions pages. Check yours before booking.
CompletePTE covers PTE Academic. PTE Core is not covered yet.
PTE Core is a separate Pearson exam required for Canadian PR. It's a different test, not a difficulty variant. If you need PTE Core specifically, leave your email and we'll write when it's available.
